Local Attractions

Whether you hire a car in Malaga, or prefer to get around by the excellent local buses (the local bus company is Alsina Graelles and their timetables are available online) there is so much to do and see… the lively market in the nearest town Orgiva, or the tiny villages tucked in around the mountains.

The fantastic walking ranges from gentle meadow strolls to full on mountain hiking. The village is a centre for walking and for accessing the mountains especially Mulhacén, generally treated as a two-day climb from Capileira with an overnight stop at a mountain refuge en route. Capileira is part of a trio of villages along with Bubion and Pampaniera, all of which are interconnected with rural footpaths that make wonderful, manageable walks.

Granada and the Alhambra are just an hour or so away by bus.

With the newly built fast road to the coast, beaches such as Salobrena are just over an hour away and Malaga airport is within easy reach (under 3hours).

The village is an artists' paradise in this “land of the clear light” and it is possible to find courses to further your own skills.

This area is also a Mountain bikers' mecca… bikes can be hired and a tour guide provided locally. There is also the opportunity for skiing in the mountains. Not far from Granada is the ski station of Solinieve.
